Data centers, industrial-scale solar, hyperscalers in ISO markets, IOU planning. That is DER redefined as whatever a balance sheet with nine zeros wants to build behind its own meter. Your own theme copy says solar and batteries are becoming plug-and-play consumer products. Not one topic touches it.
The actual frontier is the resource that needs no interconnection queue, no PPA, no permit fight, and no utility permission slip: plug-in PV and storage a household can buy, roll in, and plug into a receptacle. Germany has over a million balcony systems. Utah passed HB340. UL 3700 exists. We hold the first utility-approved plug-in PV interconnection in the country, on the Pine Ridge Reservation, and DOE and PNNL are validating the grid behavior right now.
That is the bottom-up half of "Everything is DER," and it is the half that gets a renter or a tribal household into the game. Kevin Chou of Bright Saver belongs on that stage. So do the people who fought the code, permitting, and interconnection battles to make it legal.
