Brooklyn's first solar + battery powered concert

So we’re finally throwing a PROPER eco rave fest. On October 26th at NewLab, the day after DERvos, we’ll be putting together a music festival in collaboration with SOLARPUNKS CLUB and Stereogum. Stick around and hang the day after DERvos! Tickets here.

Did you know your favorite music festivals and events burn 100’s of thousands of gallons of diesel to run? We believe in a future where all our energy systems are clean and quiet while having all the power we need to revel how we want to.

This type of event will show it’s possible to do, paving the way for it to be done at scale. That means we won’t be doing offsets or any of that nonsense. We’re building a party powered by the sun. Full stop.

SOLARPUNKS will be designing and charging up a battery energy storage system with the sun at Sustainable Westchester (http://sustainablewestchester.org/), a fellow non-profit with one of the first solar-to-EV charging stations in the country. The group will then be transporting and handling implementation of the solar-based system at the show, without the need of any collocated solar arrays.

Last year:

Last year, we did the first ever “vehicle 2 rave” application as the after party for DERvos with Jackson Walker Lewis (fcukers) and Julia Cumming and Nick Kivlen (Sunflower Bean). This year we’re going even bigger.

Who’s involved?

We’re bringing together some of our favorite people to pull this off.

DER Task Force

DERTF are the bottoms-up builders and agitators of the clean energy industry, actively working on a future more optimistic than the climate doomerism and corporate messaging that defines our times. This is the go-to community for energy enthusiasts, organized around a substack newsletter, podcast, and local meetups from NYC to SF and beyond — including their annual DERVOS summit. Their podcast and events help bring newcomers up to speed on the toughest of topics quickly while also making sense of the ever evolving frontier with the most forward thinking guests in the space. Recently, they launched a policy team to channel the communities’ energy into helping clear regulatory roadblocks to clean distributed energy happening at scale. All of the money they raise through subscribers and events goes into funding these efforts

SOLARPUNKS CLUB

SOLARPUNKS think it’s wild that the world isn’t already running on the free, abundant energy provided by the sun. As creatives that had been looking for alternatives to fossil fuels ourselves, they decided to create an interdisciplinary ecosystem to facilitate the creative industry’s transition to 100% renewable energy.

They prototype and create renewable energy solutions to:

☀️ Eliminate fossil fuels in (and with) music, film, art, fashion and event industries

🔋 Ignite curiosity about distributed renewable energy generation as an equitable path to combat climate change

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Inspire collective action to implement regenerative solutions

A major role of the arts is serve as a vehicle for social change. Let’s design our fossil fuel-free future together now.

RelaxedAtVolume

Relaxed at volume throws dance parties in NYC that are hifi and relaxed at volume.

They teamed up with John Klett, sound engineer behind the famous Despacio sound system, to design a mobile system that sounds incredible. And guess what? It really does.

Pond

Art work and creative for the show was done by our friends at POND Creative!
